Federal Research & Development with Innsightful R2

Advancing Wearable-Supported Stress and Wellness Research

Innsightful R2 is a research-stage digital health platform designed to support studies of stress, sleep, mood, fatigue, cognitive performance, and app-based wellness support in military-relevant and other high-stress occupational settings.

Wearable-Supported Research for Real-World Conditions

Innsightful R2 brings together wearable data, brief self-report check-ins, cognitive tasks, and mobile wellness tools to support applied research in real-world environments. Current R2 work focuses on feasibility, usability, data collection, technical validation, and participant engagement.

SBIR-Supported R&D

Innsightful has received federal SBIR support to advance research and development of R2 and related wearable-enabled stress and wellness technologies. This work reflects Innsightful’s commitment to developing human-centered tools for stress awareness, wellness support, and applied digital health research.

SBIR funding supports research and development and does not represent government endorsement, approval, adoption, or validation of any commercial product or service.

What R2 Is Designed to Study

Stress, Sleep, Mood, and Fatigue

R2 integrates wearable data, brief check-ins, and app-based tasks to support research on stress, sleep, mood, fatigue, and daily functioning.

Cognitive Performance

R2 includes brief cognitive tasks designed to support research on attention, reaction time, processing speed, and related performance domains in real-world contexts.

App-Based Wellness Support

R2 delivers brief, self-guided wellness activities that can be evaluated in approved research protocols for usability, engagement, stress awareness, and coping support.

Human-Centered Use

R2 development focuses on how people interact with wearable devices, mobile check-ins, cognitive tasks, and wellness content over time, with attention to usability, burden, acceptability, and engagement.

Why This Research Matters

High-stress occupational environments require tools that are practical, low-burden, and adaptable to daily routines. R2 research is designed to help evaluate:

Feasible collection of wearable, self-report, and app-based data in real-world settings

Patterns related to stress, sleep, mood, fatigue, and cognitive performance

Participant engagement with brief app-based wellness activities

Usability and acceptability of mobile and wearable research tools

Implementation considerations for high-stress occupational environments

Platform Capabilities Under Development

Mobile Study Tools

Brief check-ins, cognitive tasks, and wellness-related content designed for research on usability, engagement, and feasibility.

Wearable-Integrated Research Workflows

Wearable data can be paired with participant-reported experiences and app-based tasks to support research on stress and wellness patterns.

Research Dashboards

Dashboards can support study monitoring, technical review, and analysis of aggregate or de-identified data within approved research protocols.

Future Research Applications

Future R2 research may explore additional populations and settings, subject to funding, institutional approval, privacy review, cybersecurity review, legal review, and human-subjects protections.

Research Data and Insights

R2 supports research workflows that bring together wearable data, mobile check-ins, cognitive tasks, and app-based wellness interactions. These data streams help researchers evaluate feasibility, usability, engagement, and patterns related to stress, sleep, mood, fatigue, and cognitive performance.

Data review is structured around privacy, role-based access, and de-identified or aggregate reporting consistent with applicable institutional, IRB, cybersecurity, and legal requirements.
