Alexa’s Story

Freshman living away from home, struggling to adapt to a new environment, socializing and achieving her academic goals.

I come from North Dakota, but I am in college in California. When I first started college, it was my first time traveling and living alone in a completely different country and a metropolitan area much bigger than where I used to live in North Dakota I had responsibilities that I was never used to having: a lot of academic obligations, with no friends and family to comfort and help me. I came to the point that I considered suspending my studies and just going to my home. Honestly, I wanted to drop out and quit everything. It was a great coincidence meeting with a friend and he started telling me about Innsightful. I joined the program as the idea of community was very intriguing for a lonely student like me, I adapted immediately due to the exercises recommended by my wellness coach and the connections that I created in my group.

I was helped to find my passions and be aware of my interests. I was encouraged to go out and join social activities. My life became much more meaningful and fulfilled in a very short period of time. I met amazing people and created meaningful and lifetime friendships. Fulfilling the need for emotional connection immediately helped me to fulfill other needs as well My academic performance drastically improved and I couldn’t be more thankful!
